Serve

Ministry Highlights:

Here at Church of the Nativity, we have a wide variety of ways to serve both behind the scenes, in worship, and out in the community. The narrative of who we are as a church unfolds in Scripture, in the life of Jesus and in the world. We live out this story in many ways, including through the Christian Practices of WORSHIP, SERVICE, LOVE AND UNITY. We volunteer our time and give to financially support the ministries and programs of our church.

Worship – As Christians, worship is central to our life in the Church. When we gather for the Eucharist, prayers, or for other sacramental rites, we are reminded of our covenant relationship with God and the saving work of Jesus Christ. We gather as a community of faith to praise God and to hear God’s word; to renew the bonds that bind us together as the people of God.

Service & Love – In biblical terms service is an act of humility, love, and selflessness that reflects our devotion to God and our fellow human beings. The Bible clearly states, “… whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant”. [Mark 10:43 NRSV] Thus, service, in its essence, means placing the needs of others before your own, the ultimate manifestation of love.

Unity (in Christ) – In Christian theology, oneness of sentiment, affection or behavior. Harmony within our diversity; unity of doctrine; and unity of worship as one holy catholic and apostolic church.

Some examples of our ministries:

Our worship team consists of Greeters, Readers, Acolytes and Altar Servers, Altar Guild, Flower Guild, and Choir. From the parking lot to the pew we help welcome new and old family members to worship and make sure everything we need to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Our Facilities Team assists with basic maintenance and helps keep our building and grounds a safe, beautiful and hospitable place to worship, gather, play, and pray.

Our Children and Family Team provide youth Sunday School, and Monthly Parent’s Night Out on the First Friday of the Month September-May from 7:00 to 9:30PM, and Annual Events like Halloweenfest and Easter Egg Hunt! This team also coordinates a monthly youth Sunday on the 4th Sunday of the Month. All volunteers must be background checked and interviewed prior to volunteering.

Our Outreach Team provides emergency food supplies to those in need, we also serve with our Community Partners through St. Lucie Council on Aging and St. Lucie Public Schools to provide food, gifts and school supplies.

Our Pastoral Care Team visits our members at home who are unable to attend worship and brings them Communion as well as the love of Christ. Other team members connect via phone calls, cards and encouragement to those who are ill, grieving, or in need of encouragement.
